School Feeding Scheme is a key programme aimed for the reduction of hunger amongst RBN school children. It is aimed to enhance better quality education that may result in improving learner’s active learning capacity, attendance, and attentiveness during learning, punctuality as well as to assist in addressing certain micro-nutrient deficiencies of some disadvantaged learners
The program intended objective is to top up what National Government is through NSNP( National Schools Nutrition Program). The Government Program focuses on lunch feeding while RBI SFS beleives that the first meal of the day(Breakfast) is more vital especially for our disadvantaged and child headed families. By providing a breakfast meal the vulnerable children will some how be looked after by this breakfast provision
The program is aimed to assist all RBN school going children in all our five regions. The intended people are all +/- 23 000 learners in all five regions
Inscope
- Maintain and sustain the breakfast feeding to 41 schools
- Continuosly review current breakfast menu and adjust where necessary
- Provide training to Food Handlers
- Assess effectiveness of SFS using Key Performance Indicator(KPI) such as BMIs
- Clearly define roles and responsibilities of all steakholders
- Ensure SFS program is adhering to acceptable food safety standards
- Review school feeding model against benchmark/KPI
