The Royal Bafokeng Institute Continuous Professional Teacher Development department (CPTD) serves as a support centre for future teachers who registered with the University of North West (Potchefstroom campus) doing a four year degree in foundation phase by offering daily classes at Phokeng campus.

- Facilitate the practical aspects of learning to become a teacher in the foundation phase
- Provide learning material
- Facilitate and plan lessons
