Programme Executive Summary (Scope):

The Royal Bafokeng Institute intend to capacitate all School governing bodies of all RBN schools for effective and efficient governance of their schools including assisted schools. The realization of this dream will enable the school governing bodies to provide quality services and education to all school communities falling under the jurisdiction of the Royal Bafokeng Institute. The school governing bodies will function properly. RBN Plan 2035 of creating a child-centred community of creative, independent thinkers and problem- solvers will be accomplished.

The RBI School Management Cluster will embark on a project of equipping all School governing bodies and RCL with resources relevant to governance skills from January 2011 for effective governance.

The scope of this Programme includes and excludes the following items:

  • Perform a stakeholder analysis
  • Perform needs analysis and identifying problem areas
  • Consultations with the DOE (MECs Office)
  • Make provision for feedback sessions with SGBs and DoE
  • Develop workshop materials for SGB within SAQA standards.
  • Workshop SGB on the understanding of the legislative framework for school governance
  • Develop RCL workshop materials within SAQA standards.
  • Workshop RCL on their roles and functions
