Programme Executive Summary (Scope):

Akanyang Centre for Teaching programme (ACT) mentors the RBI – sponsored North West University (NWU) BEd (Online Distant Learning) registered students in such programmes as initial teacher education training, and also offers Continuous Professional Teacher Development to Department of Education Educators and those Graduate Interns whom the RBI has included as part of its Ambassadorship enterprise. Through its Student & Graduate Support Services desk, ACT provides holistic student support to students in the greater Bafokeng Community and broader South Africa.

In Scope

  • Offer support for post-Matric studies, for Graduate Internship and Continuous Professional Development.
  • Manage and coordinate ACT Human Resource Development.
  • Standardise systems and procedures according to national and provincial guidelines.
  • Maintain synergy with company and community wide interventions.
  • Recommend the awarding of loans for approved tertiary education programmes to continuing students
  • Obtain academic records of learners to monitor their performance.
  • Provide student support services and interventions where necessary.
  • Provide advice and support for candidates in their applications for student loans by identifying and assisting them to access funding from national government (Fundza Lushaka and NASFAS).
  • Through the Initial Teacher Education Platform, to provide intervention measures on poor literacy and numeracy skills in Section 14 Public Schools.
  • Place Graduate Interns in Section 14 RBN Public Schools

  • Provide advice and support for candidates in their applications for student loans by identifying and assisting them to access funding from corporates and private institutions.
