Executive Summary
The RBI’s Setswana literacy has teacher development as the primary purpose, leaning towards equipping Akanyang students with the skill of teaching Setswana language components including reading, writing and handwriting in Foundation Phase. For 2023, focus falls on Grade 2 teaching skills. Student teachers will receive on-campus training and undergo practical training in the section 14 schools.
The scope of this Programme includes and excludes the following items:
In Scope
- Prepare Akanyang Student-teachers to be Champion Setswana readers, writers and handwriting experts for Grade 1 and 2 pupils.
- Equip ACT students with the skill of producing a CAPS-linked Setswana LTS-Material for Grade 1.
- Enhance ACT’s educational ecosystem creation by setting up a Setswana literacy Programme.
Out of Scope
- Confer certificates or qualifications.
- Participate in the Schools’ promotion policy implementation.
- Improve Setswana pass rate in Foundation Phase.
