International day of older persons is a global event celebrated on the 1^st of October every year, this event emphasizes public awareness with respect to challenges and opportunities that are associated with ageing and mobilizes community to aid older people who are facing these challenges. To commemorate this day, as the Community Development department we will be hosting the Aged Day Celebration on the 31st of October 2024 at the Civic center auditorium in Phokeng.

This project is an initiative to bring all regional aged clubs together to compete in a singing competition. The competition encourages all participates to engage with each other and to take part in all the actitives that are available on the day. These activities will mainly focus on their well-being and entertainment purposes but not forgetting that this celebration should provide an opportunity to acknowlegde the contribution, wisdom, dignity and needs of our elderly and to rededicate our efforts to ensure their well-being.

The competition will be co-ordinated through the luncheon clubs in which each club will be given an opportunity to register and to participate against each other in order to win the ultimate price.
